At its 139th annual inaugural gala, the Chicago Association of REALTORS® officially installed Sarah Ware, managing broker of Ware Realty Group, as its 2023 president.
As the “voice for real estate in Chicago since 1883,” CAR represents more than 16,000 members from across the industry. The association supports local professionals in their advocacy for real estate and the economic development of the city’s diverse communities.
In her remarks, Ware reflected on the fact that, as the association’s second Black woman president, she would not have even been eligible for membership some 50 years ago. This underscored her own commitment to expanding the breadth of leadership at all levels of the REALTOR® organization.
“Come as you are. Bring your stories and experiences. Open doors for one another and ensure we continue to strengthen this industry and association,” she encouraged gala attendees. “I didn’t get here by accident. I’ve had help and support along the way, and I’m offering the same support to you today. If we all commit to showing up just as we are, we can work together toward a stronger industry for ourselves, our city and everyone within it.”
Ware has been involved in the association for many years, including raising thousands of dollars through the REALTORS® Political Action Committee and volunteering on professional standards, finance and public policy committees. She has also served as a director for both her state and national REALTOR® associations.
